12/03/21 - Vegetarian Journey (Cows Have Best Friends)
There's been a couple times I've gone plant based in the past few years. One of my aunts has been successfully vegetarian for a long time now. She does like to take protein supplements (non-whey) since she is full vegetarian. This time for me it is sticking and I'd like to share why. Not only are there plenty of plant based alternatives left right and center, however, there's so many ways to tweak/configure non plant based recipes. I owe Pinterest a great thanks for so many bountiful and easy recipes/ideas. For example, I'm looking into crafting my own veggie burger. Morning star patties are great and all (I have yet to try the Boca brand), however I'm growing tired of the same generic taste. Much like the "impossible burgers" it kinda presents an imitation meat texture which I am slightly iffy about. It all starts to taste the exact same after a while. So because of this I'd like to make a mushroom/bean/pea kind of patty. I want for it to actually taste like veggies not processed mush! So when I do attempt to make one, I fully intend on making a Youtube tutorial on it as well. So, as of recently I'm making it a goal to consistently eat lots more raw fruits and veggies too. The most rewarding thing for me about eating less meat, is I don't feel guilty and disgusting about having ingested a dead animal. I just found out last week that cows actually have life-long friends! Did you know that? They can recognize their life-long friend as well. How upsetting is it to know you could be eating someone's best friend! Let alone their baby or parent! I've also always admired the fact that 38% of India is vegetarian. They hold cows to a high regard because to them they represent god and divinity! Spirituality teaches us that your body is your earthly vehicle if you will, so it's vitally important to nourish it properly. While I don't ever want to push my ideas onto anyone, if someone was to suggest they'd like to try I'd most definitely encourage them! Until the next post!
